28 Years Later sets streaming release date: Here’s where and when you can watch the survival horror

28 Years Later is a film in the post-apocalyptic horror genre that serves as a sequel to 2007's 28 Weeks Later. Directed by Danny Boyle, the film is written by Alex Garland. This marks the return of Boyle and Garland to the franchise. It was released theatrically on June 20, 2025. Here's the official synopsis as per Letterboxd:

Twenty-eight years since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one member departs on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.

28 Years Later streaming release date revealed

28 Years Later will start streaming on Netflix on Saturday, September 20, 2025. This will allow all fans to watch the horror film in their home, finally. Sony Pictures Releasing released the film theatrically on June 20, 2025. Upon release, it mostly received positive critical reviews and currently holds an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Made on a budget of $60 million, the film grossed $151.2 million at the box office globally.

The film is produced by Danny Boyle, Alex Garland, Peter Rice, Bernie Bellew, and Andrew Macdonald. Here's a list of its cast members

Cillian Murphy, who had starred in the first film, is the executive producer. The makers had shot it back-to-back with the follow-up 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. The latter is slated to release on January 16, 2026.

The franchise began in 2002 with 28 Days Later, which follows a man as he navigates a world ravaged by fast-moving zombies. The critical and commercial success of this film led to its sequel, 28 Weeks Later. Unlike the first film, the sequel was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.
