“KINGKOOK”: Fans react as BTS' Jungkook’s ‘GOLDEN’ becomes first and only Asian artist album in Spotify with multiple songs with 800 million streams

BTS' Jungkook’s first solo album, GOLDEN, emerged as the only album by an Asian Artist in Spotify history with multiple songs with over 800 million streams. The BTS’ idol dropped his album in November 2023 before leaving for his mandatory South Korean military service.

So far, three songs from Jungkook’s GOLDEN have exceeded the mark of 800 million streams, namely SEVEN, Standing Next To You, and 3D. As stated by @WORLDMUSICAWARD,

• SEVEN (feat Latto) (Explicit Ver.) - 2.319 billion
• Standing Next To You - 1.178 billion
• 3D (feat Jack Harlow) - 865 million

Fans of BTS' Jungkook were delighted with his new success. They swamped the social media with praises for the idol. One user on X referred to Jk as:

While some claimed that he is truly the undisputed most popular Asian soloist, others said that they’re looking forward to the second solo album of the BTS idol.

Many congratulated BTS' Jungkook, while others praised him as a global hitmaker. Another fan also referred to him as the main global pop boy.

The album GOLDEN by BTS member Jungkook has surpassed 5.4 billion streams on Spotify, as reported by @WORLDMUSICAWARD on April 7. According to Spotify's reported streaming figures, Jk's solo work became the first album by an Asian solo artist to surpass those numbers.
