What did Shania Twain say about having beef with Brad Pitt decades after her song mention?

Shania Twain is finally clearing the air about one of pop culture's most iconic musical "disses."

Nearly three decades after name-dropping Brad Pitt in her 1997 smash hit "That Don't Impress Me Much," the country pop legend says there was never any real shade, revealing on the Wood and Woody radio show on Oct. 26 that she's actually never met the heartthrob at all.

"We've never met. And I mean, you know, there's a lot of Hollywood celebrities I haven't met. He must be impressed with that, though, you know?"

In her song, Shania Twain memorably mentions the Bullet Train actor in her cheeky line:

"OK, so you're Brad Pitt / That don't impress me much."

Despite the shout-out, the songstress clarified that it wasn't personal. Per Twain, she included the actor's name in the track because of his nude feature in the Playgirl magazine at the time.

"I was thinking, ‘OK, everybody in the world is in love with Brad Pitt right now.' There were nude photos out of him, and everyone was gaga over that. And I'm thinking, ‘OK, if there is anyone that is making an impression on anyone …' That's why I picked on him."

Still, even after 30 years, the song and the line remain iconic. Shania Twain also told the radio show's hosts that she's available to meet Brad Pitt in the flesh to discuss the lyrics.

"Like, he can seek me out, right? He certainly doesn't have to try very hard. I'm sure he's got a very good sense of humor."

It's not the first time Twain talked about the actor. In October 2023, she appeared on Amelia Dimoldenberg’s popular Chicken Shop Date YouTube series, where she was asked if she had met Brad Pitt. She joked:

“No. I wrote about Brad Pitt, I never met Brad Pitt. I think he’s avoiding me honestly."

In 2024, the songstress also named the celebrity who could replace Pitt in her legendary lyrics. In her chat with The Times ahead of her Glastonbury Festival performance, Twain revealed that Harry Styles fits the role.

Meanwhile, while they haven't met in person, Brad Pitt chatted about Shania Twain's "That Don't Impress Me Much" with The Hook in 2023 amid his promotional activities for Babylon. The interview came after Twain replaced Pitt's name with Ryan Reynolds during her performance at the People's Choice Awards.

When asked about his reaction to the name-swapping, Brad Pitt grinned and suggested other names as well.

"Ryan’s a good egg, too. He deserves some love."
