On October 16, the nominations for this year's MAMA Awards are finally unveiled, with BTS members, notably Kim Taehyung, Jin, and J-Hope, named under multiple categories. The BTS members earned nominations in several major categories, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, and more.

More details about the MAMA Awards

The MAMA Awards are set to take place in Hong Kong at the Kai Tak Stadium. This two-day ceremony will be held on November 28 and November 29. The rules for winning awards are different for each category.

Here is a list of the criteria and how they are evaluated for each category:

Artist of the Year and Artist Category Awards

40% judging evaluation, 30% streaming/downloads (20% Korea + 10% global), 30% physical album sales

Song of the Year and Genre Category Awards

40% judging evaluation, 60% streaming/downloads (40% Korea + 20% global)

Album of the Year

40% judging evaluation, 60% physical album sales (of albums that sold at least 1 million copies)

Best Music Video and Best Choreography

100% judging evaluation

Fans’ Choice Male/Female

Round 1: 90% Mnet Plus votes, 10% X votes
Round 2: 90% Mnet Plus votes, 10% X votes

Fans’ Choice of the Year

90% Mnet Plus votes, 10% X votes
additional 10% realtime Mnet Plus votes

The first round of voting for the Fans’ Choice nominees ends on October 26 at 11:59 p.m. KST. The top 20 artists from each category, Fans’ Choice Male and Fans’ Choice Female, will go to the second round of voting. This second round is from October 30 at 6 p.m. KST to November 10 at 11:59 p.m. KST.

The music should be released between October 1 last year and September 30 this year to meet the eligibility requirements of the MAMA Awards.
