Cam'ron is going toe-to-toe with J. Cole over their song, Ready 24. TMZ has reported that, in a new lawsuit launched by the former, he is alleging that he penned the lyrics and delivered a verse on the track in exchange for J. Cole collaborating with him on a potential project. Alternatively, he alleged that the latter would also make a cameo on his "It Is What It Is" podcast. However, Cam'ron claims that in the two years since the track was recorded, J. Cole has failed to deliver on his promise. He claims that after they recorded the track in 2022, they kept in touch. Between July July 2023 and April 2024, Cam alleged that he tried to reach out to Cole for an appearance on his podcast and for another music collaboration, which the latter allegedly denied. TMZ and Hollywood Unlocked have reported that Cam is not only seeking restitution in the form of getting recognized as the co-author of “Ready ’24," but also a chunk of the song’s profits, which he claims supersedes $500,000. As of this writing, The Source has reported that J. Cole has yet to publicly acknowledge Cam'ron's filing. Everything we know about Cam'ron's upcoming music: In other news, Cam'ron confirmed just days ago that, despite his latest venture into the world of podcasting, he has his toes dipped in the music industry. Revolt has reported that during a Thursday, October 9 episode of The Breakfast Club,” he was asked by DJ Envy about the prospect of a new project. “For what? … It don’t be making financial sense,” the Harlem native responded. “If I’ma do a project, we gon’ get merchandise behind it, [there’s] gon’ be a tour behind it, [and] everything else. But you know, I do the freestyles on my show, and here and there, but as far as doing an actual project … It don’t be making financial sense for me.” The Diplomats co-founder continued, “You see n**gas [my age] rapping. [There are] only a few n**gas who can really go on tour who [are] my age. N**gas just be thinking in their brain [that] they’re doing a lot, but they’re not really doing what they think they’re doing … As far as doing the album… albums be lasting… like a great album is like two weeks, you know what I’m saying.” The rapper last debuted a project, The Lost Files: Vol. 1, in 2023. He also confirmed that he has 19 collaborations with Mase recorded, enough to form an EP or LP. However, it's the “Tell Me What You Want” lyricist who's standing in the way of its debut: “I can’t put them out. I feel like my hands [are] tied with this n**ga. He’ll get in the mood, and he’ll be like ‘We gon’ come out,’ and then he’ll be like ‘Nah, just wait,’ and it don’t come out,” Cam’ron explained. “I could play it for y’all when nobody's listening — like the world ain’t listening — but Mase is really, really, really nice.” Stay tuned to SoapCentral for more.
