In her latest Paper Magazine cover story, Cardi B has opened up about motherhood, rap rivalries, the making of her latest album, Am I The Drama?, and more. Her new record comes seven years after her debut, Invasion of Privacy.Am I The Drama? debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and is going double platinum. When asked about her process for picking collaborators in the Paper Magazine interview, Cardi B explained:"It was funny, because I have asked different people to do different songs. Some songs I didn't even put on there. Some, I went with whoever sounded the best on the songs, to be honest with you, because there are some people that I asked, and it's not that they didn't sound beautiful, it just didn't fit the feeling of the song."Cardi B added:"So everybody that's on the album feels the feelings of the song. And then there were people there I did ask to be featured on my album, and they were being funny. Because those are the people … I'm not the type of person to ask people for shit ... but these are the people they always be like, “Oh, I want to work with you. I want to work with you. I want to work with you!” And then when I give them my opportunity, they just want to act funny, but trust me, they regret that shit."Netizens reacted to her statement, saying:"Cardi B's revenge album energy is chef's kiss, but dragging ghosts without receipts? That's not drama, it's a hit list waiting to drop."AZU CUBANNA @azucubannaLINKCardi's revenge album energy is chef's kiss, but dragging ghosts without receipts? Below are some of their remarks:"That line about people being all "I want to work with you!" and then acting funny when the actual email hits is SO real. It’s the biggest difference between someone who loves the idea of a collaboration versus someone who is truly ready to deliver the work. Ugh, the validation of knowing that happens even to a superstar. 😂", noted a netizen."To be fair, love her down, but Cardi B was not dropping, we barely believed it would finally drop this time. I can see other artists being hesitant.", stated another."She’s so real for that people love to scream “let’s work!” until it’s actually time to deliver. Cardi’s reminding them her table’s invitation-only now. 👏🏽 You can hear the confidence of someone who knows her worth and won’t beg for fake energy.", commented a third.Others also chimed in:"Nah that’s all cap if she did get some songs she was gonna put them instead of those 3 to 7 year olds remember she wanted to boost that album sales 😂😂", penned an X user."That raw, unfiltered honesty is exactly why people connect with Cardi B, she treats her album like a curated exhibition of her life, not just a collection of tracks. It’s fascinating how she frames collaboration not as a matter of star power, but of emotional resonance: if your vibe doesn’t align with the story she’s telling, you don’t make the cut, no matter how big your name is,", shared another."Smart move by Cardi B. Quality over quantity when it comes to features. Album cohesion matters more than big names that dont fit the vibe", lauded a third.Cardi B will take her new era on the road in 2026 for the Little Miss Drama Tour.
