The first time Ryan Sheckler joined a skateboarding contest was in 2002. He was only 13 years old at the time. Now, at 35 years old, the professional skateboarder and entrepreneur told TMZ Sports that he has been sober for almost six years. In between competitions and contests, Sheckler also had a reality show called Life of Ryan. The show aired from 2007 to 2009.Ryan Sheckler was at LAX when he shared the milestone with TMZ Sports. He said that moving away from alcohol has helped him in different parts of his life, including his skateboarding skills. In his words:"I'm headed to Paris right now to go skate... I thought I was done competing. And I'm skating better than ever right now... I wasn't just hurting myself... I was hurting the people around me. I think once I took a grasp to, like, I'm hurting people that really care about me, I couldn't deal with it anymore."Sheckler decided to quit alcohol on March 30, 2020, and has not looked back since.
