Her father, Gilberto Gil, was the former Minister of Culture in Brazil, and is also a musician. According to Quem, the 50-year-old singer passed away in the US while getting treatment for colorectal cancer.Gil was first diagnosed with cancer in January 2023, after which it went into remission in the same year.
