After Slow Horses, Apple TV has adapted another mystery novel by Mick Herron, Down Cemetery Road. Considering the success of Slow Horses, there were high expectations for the new series, and it has so far lived up to them.

The show is set in an Oxford suburb, where an explosion takes place at a house. The only survivor of the accident, a girl, goes missing. Her neighbor becomes obsessed with the case and decides to find her with the help of a private investigator.

Down Cemetery Road follows a weekly release schedule. The first two episodes of the series, Almost True and A Kind of Grief, were dropped together on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

The rest of the six episodes, Filthy Work, My Friends Don't Like Me, Slow Dying, Neglected Waters, Lights Go Out, and What Will Survive, are going to be released weekly on the subsequent six Thursdays. The finale is scheduled for December 10, 2025. The complete release schedule is given below:

The series revolves around Sarah Trafford, an art conservationist living a peaceful life in Oxford. But her peace is disrupted when a nearby house explodes. The blast kills a couple, leaving only their young daughter, Dinah, alive.

Sarah then seeks answers about what happened to the girl. When she is unable to get any answers, she hires a private investigator named Zoë Boehm to look into the matter. The official synopsis of Down Cemetery Road says:

“When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbor Sarah Trafford becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm. Zoë and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.”

The star cast includes Ruth Wilson as Sarah Tucker, Emma Thompson as Zoë Boehm, Tom Goodman-Hill as Gerard, Tom Riley as Mark, Sinead Matthews as Denise, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as Downey, Adeel Akhtar as Hamza, Fehinti Balogun as Amos, and Steven Cree as Bob Poland.

The show has been developed by Morwenna Banks, who also serves as a writer on Slow Horses. It is directed by Natalie Bailey, who previously worked on The Unusual Suspects, Bay of Fires, and Audrey. The executive producers on the project include Mick Herron, Morwenna Banks, Emma Thompson, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash.
