Things have been really hard for the Leone family and their core firefighters in Fire Country Season 4, and the new chief often mentions Vince's death, and blaming the team for being irresponsible is adding to the pain.

However, Brett wasn't entirely wrong about the situation at the Zebel Ridge.

Though it looks like Brett Richards is trying hard to prove the team wrong, there's some truth in his harsh words. In the last episode, he brought up Vince's death and how he often handled high-stakes situations. Vince stepped into the fire to save his family without backup, and Brett called it carelessness.

He even tested the firefighters with a fake alarm and then called them out for being late. The chief is back in episode 3 of Fire Country Season 4, and once again brought up the late chief's demise and what caused the tragedy.

A detailed recap is right below!

Fire Country Season 4 episode 3 recap: Bode struggles to hold it together after Vince's death

Fire Country Season 4 episode 3 begins and the new chief, Brett, can be seen calling out the firefighters at Station 42 for not admitting the truth. He claims that Vince’s death happened because the team ignored orders, especially when it came to Bode. He was allowed to work according to his instincts and now the outcomes are unbearable.

His sister, Riley's, death was already a tragedy in Bode's life, and now Vince is also dead. His struggles have brought immense pain in his journey, as Bode finds it hard to use or throw a tiny pouch of pills in episode 3.

Not only Brett, but even Jake commented that if Bode had followed the orders, Vince would have made it out alive. The firehouse feels heavier than ever, and everyone senses that Bode is nearing his breaking point.

Later in the episode of Fire Country Season 4, the Station 42 team is called to a ziplining accident. Little did they know that this new rescue mission would lead them to look into the chaos inside each firefighter.

Manny and Audrey rush to help the man who fell, but Audrey’s trauma resurfaces as she remembers losing Finn. With Manny’s help, she steadies herself and gets the job done, proving she’s stronger than her fears.

At the same time, Bode and Jake join forces to rescue the man trapped above. It's revealed that Gage's failed marriage proposal caused fireworks to ignite wildfires in the dry season. Bode watched Gage worrying more about his gadgets than his injured friend.

This incident makes Bode finally snap, his grief and frustration boiling over in an outburst that’s been building since Vince’s death. The incident has left a mark on his life, but Bode needs to focus on himself so that he doesn't go back to his old bad habits again.

Bode isn't the only Leone hurt by Vince's demise. Sharon, who has been a supportive and understanding wife, is also grieving the loss. She met her sister recently (as seen in Sheriff Country) and even found comfort in Vince's ex, who coincidentally returned to the town.

Together, they try to donate Vince’s things, and when Sharon accidentally gives away his favorite leather jacket, she chooses not to take it back. Instead, she asks for a hug, needing to feel close to Vince one last time.

In the final moments of the episode, a cryptic note signed "R" appears during the dinner in Vince’s memory. This means that there are some secrets about to unfold, and Bode's missing pills also suggest that his battle with addiction isn't really over.
