The Pitt star Katherine LaNasa recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where she not only engaged the audience with her witty, amusing presence but also shared heartwarming stories about her Emmy win. The HBO Max drama had a successful run with its first season and, with solid RT scores (both in terms of audience and critic reviews), is redefining the medical procedural genre with a unique storytelling.
While talking to Jimmy Kimmel, Katherina LaNasa (who portrays Dana Evans on The Pitt) recalled her Emmy-winning moment for the hit medical drama. As the 58-year-old star commented, she was not at all prepared to lead The Pitt with this award, and there were no predictions as well.
TLaNasa told Kimmel:
"I had no idea that I would win. And I think I was not predicted to win."
Katherine further added that she got a "weird feeling' about leading the category right before the winner's name was about to be announced and got cold feet. As she said:
"The little voice was like, 'Katherine relax. It's going to be you.' And then it happened. And I still was shocked because, you know, we don't often get these weird messages from the universe telling us what's going to happen 15 minutes before."
Katherine LaNasa never expected to win an Emmy for her role in The Pitt
Katherine LaNasa bagged her first Emmy nomination for her character Dana Evans in The Pitt, a character that became a fan-favorite in a very short time. However, the star opened up on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, saying that she had no expectations of winning and that it all came out of the blue.
Right after, LaNasa shared a heartwarming moment from the Emmy ceremony where she sat alongside her better half, Grant Shaw (a well-known face from Ryan's Hope). As she said, while sitting on her Emmy nominee seat, LaNasa got a strong feeling that she would win the award, and she added that the whole thing got her "kind of freaked out".
Katherine LaNasa beautifully stole the show on Jimmy Kimmel Live when she recalled her conversation with husband Grant Shaw right before the winner announcement. She said:
"I said to Grant, 'You know, I know this sounds crazy, but I think I'm going to win. Like I'm getting a message from the universe and I need to practise what I'm going to say.'"
The Emmy-winning star also asked her husband if she could whisper her speech to him (in case she won) and struggled to look for the "small card' she had in her "magnetic purse" where the names of all the persons (to be thanked) were written. But then the moment of truth came, and it turned out to be great for Katherine LaNasa as she took the award home.
LaNasa further revealed that she did not have a speech planned in case she won for The Pitt and managed to pay her gratitude to all the names she had on her list. While speaking to Jimmy Kimmel Live, she also talked about "a funny joke" that she shared with her Emmy-winning speech, which eventually wrapped as a heartwarming moment for her.
