Popular BBC period drama Poldark ended with Season 5 in 2019. The finale perfectly tied up all the loose ends introduced in the series. The finale episode, i.e., Episode 8, saw Ross Poldark working with the French to invade England, even lying to his wife, Demelza.
However, he later revealed to Dr. Dwight Enys that he was actually a double agent and wanted to learn about the French Commander's plan to attack. As he tries to send all the intel to his people, Merceron and Hanson intercept it and report to the Commander about Ross's treachery, leading to a swordfight between the two.
However, it was George Warleggan who saved Ross's life by going against Merceron and Hanson. In the end, Ross and Dwight are made spies who are then sent to France to bring back intel for their country.
