The Bear Season 4 finale was crucial for Jeremy Allen White's character, Carmy. In the finale, he decided to quit his job as head chef and gave it to Sydney, stating that he wanted to find out more about himself outside of the kitchen.

In a new Vogue interview, White discussed his thoughts on the finale and Carmy's arc. Cramy had shared bittersweet moments with Sydney, had a heartfelt conversation with Richie, and bid his farewell to them and Natalie. He shared:

"Carmy shed so much in that finale and came clean in so many ways. He’s trying to do what he thinks is right or best."

More on this in our story.

The Bear star Jeremy Allen White talks about Carmy's arc in Season 4

In the finale of The Bear Season 4, Carmy and Sydney argue about his decision to quit his job at the restaurant. Carmy argues that he was making the right decision for himself and the restaurant. He also tells her, unlike her decision to enter the job, his was more about escaping his family and the trauma.

Other than Sydney, Richie also joins in on the conversation and confronts Carmy about it. After a while, the duo shares a beautiful moment as Carmy comes clean in front of Richie and confesses to arriving in the city for Mikey's funeral. However, he was too nervous and skipped the funeral. Mikey's death had created several problems between them, which they finally talked out.

Carmy also reveals to them that his decision to quit comes from his desire to learn more about himself, and gives all of his responsibilities to Sydney and Richie. At the end, he bids farewell to them and Natalie.

While talking to Vogue, the actor revealed that the scene was actually filmed way earlier in 2024. The feeling was 'strange' as he filmed one of Carmy's most important arcs and later worked on several earlier scenes of The Bear Season 4 in 2025.

To add to his previous comment, he said:

"It’s interesting because we shot this last finale back in 2024, but then filmed a lot of earlier Season 4 episodes in 2025, so it’s a weird thing. It feels like a very long time ago."

He further added:

"Working backwards a year later was a strange experience. But I remember that last episode being so fun, because we shot it like a play."

He also shared further details about filming the sequence with Ayo Ediberi, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Abby Elliot. He stated:

"It took 36 minutes to perform and we did it like four times."

He also praised showrunner Christopher Storer's writing and for developing a heartfelt story about these characters. He further shared how he would love to work with all the people from the show for a long time, if it were possible.

He also gave information about The Bear Season 5 and shared that they have yet to begin filming for the next season of the FX series.

Along with Jeremy Allen White, The Bear also includes Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Liza Colón-Zayas, Matty Matheson, and Abby Elliott, among several others.
