View this post on Instagram Instagram PostAs the bakers got started with their pie preparation, judge Paul Hollywood spoke to the cameras about the challenge, noting that the bakers could choose from various types of meringue, such as Swiss, Italian, and French."For me, the perfect meringue pie has a really crisp pastry," shared Prue Leith.The Great British Bake Off noted that bakers could add their choice of fillings. Obvious options included fruit or curd, but they could also choose frangipane or set custard. She cautioned that the filling should not be "too gluey," adding that it was a small detail but very difficult to perfect.While the pies baked, the bakers worked on their fillings and toppings.
