The Witcher Season 4 is finally streaming on Netflix. The platform's beloved fantasy adventure series, based on Andrzej Sapkowski's series of books, is finally back with a new season after a long hiatus of more than two years. The Witcher fans are currently divided about the current season, as it officially marks the departure of Henry Cavill from his iconic role of Geralt of Rivia, and Liam Hemsworth taking his sword in the remaining two seasons. While the actors have changed, Geralt of Rivia remains the same and determined Witcher, resolved to rescue and be reunited with Ciri.Being a fantasy series, where characters are mutants, possess supernatural abilities, dark magic and mysterious potions, it is difficult to decipher their exact age. Like Andrzej Sapkowski's books, the Netflix show also distances itself from revealing the exact ages of its main characters. However, thanks to some bits and pieces of information peppered throughout the seasons, we have tried doing the maths and speculating the ages of some of the characters in The Witcher Season 4.Since The Witcher Season 4 takes place “shortly after the Continent-altering events that close out Season 3”, it is safe to assume that the recent season does not feature a major time jump. The Witcher Season 4: Exploring Geralt and Yennefer's ages in the latest season View this post on Instagram Instagram PostWhile Andrzej Sapkowski left much mystery about Geralt and the other characters' ages in his fantasy book series, Netflix was kind enough to offer a clear chronology of the show's events. Netflix's The Witcher takes a huge leap and diverts from Sapkowski's narrative, revealing that its protagonist was born in the year 1160, making him 106 years old at the end of The Witcher Season 3.This is further supported by Vesemir's comments, who reveals that Geralt is “nearly a century old” in Season 3. Since The Witcher Season 4 takes place immediately after the harrowing events of the Season 3 finale (without any time jumps), Geralt is 106-110 years old in the latest season. The mystery behind Geralt's age (in the books) was finally solved by Andrzej Sapkowski in his 2024-released book Crossroads of the Crows. The book revealed that, unlike Netflix's The Witcher Season 4, Geralt was born in 1229, making him only 57 years old till the end of the book. This key change in Geralt's age also affects his relationship with Yennefer, who is older than him in the books but younger than him in the Netflix show. According to Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, Yennefer was born in 1174, making her 94 years old at the series' conclusion. However, the Netflix series changes her birth year to 1192, making her 74 years old in The Witcher Season 4 (and significantly younger than Geralt). How old are the other characters in The Witcher Season 4? View this post on Instagram Instagram PostFreya Allen's Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon was revealed to be born in either 1260 or 1262 in the books, making her 11 years old when she meets Geralt in 1264. However, continuing the trend, Netflix's show changes Ciri's age and her birth year is moved up a few years to 1250. Since it was suggested that Ciri is 16-18 years old in Season 3, she is well into her twenties in The Witcher Season 4.This significant change in her age signifies her transition from a child to a woman, as she is one of the central characters and the focus of the story in the latest season. While Jaskier, The Witcher's resident musician, is not a mutant like Geralt and Yennefer, his age is the hardest to track in the Netflix show. However, he is revealed to be 18 years old when he met Geralt in 1240, making him 52-54 years old in The Witcher Season 4.In addition to these main characters, Season 4 of The Witcher introduces a mysterious new character named Regis, played by Laurence Fishburne. Regis is a magical healer who is about 1000 years old in Season 4. Fishburne confirmed his character's age to Netflix's Tudum as:''He’s very old, nearly half a millennium. That’s a long, long time. I am not that old [laughs], just in case anybody is wondering. He’s a barber-surgeon, so he’s good at pulling teeth, bloodletting, herbs, poultices, tonics, and tinctures.''The Witcher Season 4 is streaming on Netflix. For the latest scoops on your favorite TV shows and movies, follow SoapCentral.
