Apart from Gilligan returning with a show that has already topped charts before its release, Pluribus will also reunite the creator with Rhea Seehorn, who appeared as Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. Seehorn will play the protagonist Carol Sturka. She will be joined by Karolina Wydra, Carlos Manuel, and Miriam Shor, among others.

Recently, while talking to Radio Times, Gilligan shared that he was nervous and realised that doing something in the Breaking Bad Universe would have been a safe bet, as he loved the characters and actors. He said:

"It would have been safer doing something else in the Breaking Bad universe. And I was tempted, because I love that world so much."

However, with the help of Pluribus, he wanted to prove that he was not a "one-trick pony" and shared:

"But I just wanted to prove to myself that I wasn't necessarily a one-trick pony, and I wanted to write a good guy after about 20 years."

He further shared that he has written for heroes when he wrote for The X-Files and then shifted to write for anti-heroes and kept it going for two long decades. With this new Apple TV show, he decided to make a change and write for a hero, and created the character of Carol after 20 years. He stated:

"Now, after almost 20 years of that, I'm thinking, 'How do I break free of things I've been doing?' And I figured it was time for a change."
